Project Overview
This project added a covered front porch with a balcony above, transforming the face of the home and giving the owners true outdoor living space at both levels. The new structure was designed to read as original to the house, with rooflines, columns, and trim proportioned to match the existing architecture.
Because the porch and balcony tie directly into the home's framing and foundation, careful structural planning came first. We coordinated the engineering and permitting, then built with materials and flashing details selected to stand up to Houston's heat, humidity, and heavy rain for the long term.

Case Study
Construction focus and outcome
Exterior additions depend heavily on the details that homeowners do not always see: how loads transfer, how water is managed, how the roof ties in, and how the new framing connects to the existing house.
This project focused on making the porch and balcony feel original to the home while protecting the structure from long-term weather exposure.
Outcome: The project changed the front of the home, added useful outdoor living space on two levels, and created a more finished architectural presence.

How We Approach Outdoor Living Projects
Exterior additions like porches and balconies succeed or fail on the details: how the new roof ties into the old, how loads are carried to the foundation, and how water is managed at every connection. We resolve those questions in planning, with engineering and Houston permitting handled before the first board is cut.
From there, the focus turns to craftsmanship - framing that is true, columns and railings proportioned to the home, and paint-grade finish work that holds up outdoors. The result is an outdoor space that feels like it was always part of the house and is built to be used year-round.
